Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGV), a Central University established by the Central Universities Act 2009 of the Parliament, was originally established as State University by an Act of State the Legislative Assembly of the then undivided Madhya Pradesh on 16 June 1983. GGV is an active member of the Association of Indian Universities and Association of Commonwealth University. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited the University as B. the Situated in a socially and economically challenged area, the University is appropriately named to honour the great Satnami Saint Guru Ghasidas (born in 17 century), who championed the cause of the downtrodden and waged a relentless struggle against all forms of social evils and injustice prevailing in the society. The University is a semi-residential institution. The University covers almost the total spectrum of higher education in 32 university teaching departments offering various courses in the areas of Arts, Commerce, Education, Engineering and Technology, Humanities, Life Sciences, Management, Pharmacy, Sciences and Social Sciences |
