| National Sports University (NSU), a Central University is the first of its kind in India located in Manipur. The University was established by an Act of Parliament in the year 2018. Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of National Sports University on 16th March 2018. NSU is envisioned with the aim to promote Sports Education in the area of Sports Sciences, Sports Technology, Sports Management and Sports Coaching besides functioning as the National Training Center for selected sports disciplines by adopting best international practices. Presently, the University is functioning from a temporary campus at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal, while the permanent campus is under construction at Imphal West spreading over an area of 325.90 acres of land. Although in nascent stage, the University is moving forward in the direction of becoming a world-class university. NSU has also collaborated with other foreign Universities – viz. University of Canberra, Australia, Victoria University, Australia and Russian International Olympic University, Russia to fulfill the growing requirement of human resources, facilitate advance research in the field of sports education, research and training. |
